Why This Role Matters

Data is the lifeblood of arenaflex’s operations—from flight scheduling and crew management to customer experience and revenue optimization. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be at the heart of this data‑driven ecosystem, designing, building, and maintaining the pipelines that turn raw information into strategic intelligence. Your work will directly influence how arenaflex makes real‑time decisions, improves operational efficiency, and delivers world‑class service to travelers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, ingest, and transform large, complex data sets that satisfy both functional and non‑functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including re‑architecting systems for greater scalability, enhancing data throughput, and automating manual workflows.
  • Build robust data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) pipelines using AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift) and advanced SQL techniques.
  • Develop analytical tools and dashboards that provide actionable insights into critical business performance metrics such as operational efficiency and customer acquisition.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners—including data science, product, engineering, and leadership teams—to understand data needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Partner with the Chief, Product, Data, and Architecture groups to support their data platform requirements and resolve data‑related technical challenges.
  • Prototype, evaluate, and refine new technologies and tools that align with arenaflex’s strategic roadmap.
  • Mentor junior engineers, lead technical discussions, and champion best practices in data engineering across the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience designing and operating data pipelines in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with AWS data services (S3, Redshift, Athena, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis) and strong SQL expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large, heterogeneous data sources and to model data for analytical consumption.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including design patterns, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the capacity to analyze complex scenarios, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong communication abilities—both written and verbal—to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree or advanced certifications in data engineering, cloud architecture, or related fields.
  • Experience with streaming data platforms (Kafka, Kinesis) and real‑time analytics.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Previous experience in the aviation, travel, or logistics sectors.
  • Proven track record of leading cross‑functional projects and influencing technical direction.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to synthesize disparate data points, detect patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Strategic Vision: Capacity to anticipate future data needs and design scalable architectures that support long‑term growth.
