About arenaflex

arenaflex is a pioneering leader in artificial intelligence research and product development, dedicated to ensuring that the transformative power of AI benefits all of humanity. Our mission‑driven culture blends cutting‑edge technology with a deep commitment to safety, ethics, and inclusive innovation. As a fast‑growing organization, arenaflex empowers its teams to shape the future of AI, work on high‑impact projects, and collaborate with world‑class researchers and engineers. If you thrive in an environment where data drives decisions, where curiosity is celebrated, and where your contributions directly influence the next generation of intelligent systems, arenaflex is the place for you.

Why This Role Matters

At arenaflex, data is the lifeblood of every product, from conversational agents to advanced research tools. As a Data Engineer, you will be at the heart of our information pipelines, building robust, scalable, and secure data flows that power critical business insights, product development, and AI model training. Your work will enable cross‑functional teams—Product, Research, Marketing, Finance, and more—to make data‑driven decisions that accelerate innovation while maintaining the highest standards of privacy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain end‑to‑end data pipelines that ingest, transform, and store large volumes of user interaction data, ensuring reliability and low latency.
  • Construct and curate authoritative datasets aligned with core product metrics such as user growth, engagement, and revenue, supporting both internal analytics and external reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional stakeholders—including Product, Data Science, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Research—to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Implement robust, fault‑tolerant architectures using modern distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Flink) and storage solutions (e.g., HDFS, Amazon S3).
  • Develop and optimize ETL workflows with industry‑standard orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect, ensuring smooth data movement and transformation.
  • Participate in data modeling and schema design, applying best practices to guarantee data integrity, consistency, and performance.
  • Enforce data security, privacy, and compliance in line with regulatory standards (GDPR, CCPA) and arenaflex’s internal policies.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and fine‑tune pipeline performance, proactively identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements.
  • Document technical designs, processes, and data lineage to foster knowledge sharing and maintainability across the organization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning, sharing insights on emerging data technologies and best practices.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering, such as Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Hands‑on experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Flink) and cloud storage platforms (e.g., Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage).
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain ETL pipelines using orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, relational and NoSQL databases, and data warehousing solutions.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with a track record of diagnosing and resolving complex data pipeline issues.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Master’s degree or advanced coursework in data engineering, big data analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with streaming data platforms (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) and real‑time analytics.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for scalable deployment.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and privacy‑preserving techniques.
  • Prior exposure to AI/ML pipelines, especially those supporting large language models or conversational agents.
  • Certification in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) or data engineering specializations.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex data flows, identify inefficiencies, and propose data‑centric solutions.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, building trust with product owners and data scientists.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a fast‑paced, evolving tech landscape and quickly adopting new tools and methodologies.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to data quality, security, and compliance at every stage of the pipeline.
  • Innovation: Proactive in suggesting improvements, automations, and novel approaches to data engineering challenges.

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its employees. As a Data Engineer, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship from senior engineers and AI researchers who are leaders in the field.
  • Generous tuition reimbursement for relevant certifications, workshops, and graduate courses.
  • Internal tech talks, hackathons, and knowledge‑sharing sessions that keep you at the forefront of data engineering trends.
  • Opportunities to transition into specialized roles such as Data Architecture, Machine Learning Engineering, or Product Analytics.
  • Clear promotion pathways based on impact, technical mastery, and leadership contributions.
