Manager, Buyer (Procurement & Vendor Management)

About the position Wellness and Vitality Exchange (WAVE) is the consumer products company behind the WellBiz Brands franchise network, supporting more than 700 locations across five leading franchise brands. Through a portfolio of over 1,300 active products sourced from more than 180 suppliers, WAVE helps franchisees deliver exceptional experiences to their customers every day. As a Manager, Buyer, you will play a key role in procurement, vendor management, and product lifecycle management across this diverse portfolio. You'll build and maintain strong supplier relationships, identify and recommend new and replacement products that support business objectives, and ensure accurate product information across company systems. This role also partners closely with cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives that drive operational excellence, product performance, and long-term growth. This hybrid position supports our Phoenix-based distribution center and requires regular in-person collaboration with on-site teams (3 days per week in office). We are seeking candidates who are currently based in the Phoenix area. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Managing select product categories at WAVE, including both vendor and product recommendations in collaboration with the Sr Manager of Category Management and WAVE leadership as required.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend new and replacement products for consideration and approval by the Sr. Manager of Category Management.
  • Support the company’s innovation strategy, in collaboration with the Sr Manager of Category Management and WAVE leadership, along with the WellBiz marketing, training, and operations teams, including: Support innovation priorities for the brands, including helping to determine the potential impact of each innovation concept and the level of effort to bring it to life.
  • Product sourcing in support of in-flight and pending innovation projects in support of pilot needs and rollout needs.
  • Administration of the company’s item master, including all relevant product attributes for both new and existing items.
  • Support WAVE’s B2B and B2C site management through the company’s selected vendor, TVG.
  • Periodic review of products to ensure timely update of item lifecycle status (pending, active, discontinued, obsolete, inactive), and coordinating the same with other team members.
  • Maintain product pricing and cost updates in Oracle & NetSuite, and coordinate retail price updates with company IT personnel in the relevant point-of-sale system for each brand.
  • Review item costs, trends & competition, and provide recommendations for: Consumer-level retail prices (MSRP) to be charged in shops, salons, and studios, as well as the company’s consumer website(s) and third-party retailers (i.e., Nordstrom), Establish wholesale prices to shops, salons, and studios, as well as third-party retailers.
  • Price increases on a semi-annual and annual basis, as needed.
  • Support other team members & vendors with forecasts for replenishment and new products to issue purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor and department heads.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years’ experience in the following areas: procurement/purchasing, buying, or vendor relations.
  • Experience in sourcing beauty, wellness, or health products, or a high level of passion for those categories
  • Experience working with pricing, profit margin & mix analysis, etc.
  • Team-oriented.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong computer skills are required, especially in Microsoft Excel
  • Willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes, including domestic and potential international travel

  • Experience using NetSuite and Oracle is a plus
