[Remote] GIS Data Analyst, Ratio.City
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Esri Canada is a provider of geographic information system (GIS) solutions, and they are seeking a full-time GIS Data Analyst for their Ratio.City department. The role involves sourcing, managing, and analyzing geospatial data to support the development and ongoing operation of the Ratio.City product, ensuring data quality and usability for stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, validate, clean, and analyze spatial and attribute data to support Ratio.City product functionality and data pipelines
- Research, source, and acquire geospatial and related datasets from internal and external sources relevant to urban planning and land use
- Transform data into usable formats, including georeferencing, digitization, and basic raster and vector processing
- Ingest and maintain datasets within the Ratio.City platform, including field mapping, styling, and metadata creation
- Develop and maintain repeatable processes and methods to improve the efficiency, consistency, and reliability of data acquisition and updates
- Support internal teams by responding to data‑related questions, issues, and requests related to the Ratio.City product
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of internal documentation, data standards, and technical reference materials
- Participate in team meetings and product discussions, sharing insights related to data quality, coverage, and improvement opportunities
Skills
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working with GIS, geospatial data, or data analysis in an academic, professional, or early‑career product environment
- Foundational experience using Esri technologies such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- Post‑secondary degree or diploma in geography, GIS, geomatics, urban planning, data analytics, or a related field
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
- Demonstrated ability to apply foundational GIS and data analysis skills to real‑world data problems
- Proven attention to data quality, accuracy, and documentation standards
- Demonstrated problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to follow established processes and workflows
- Proven ability to learn and apply new tools, technologies, and data methodologies
- Ability to manage assigned tasks effectively and meet deadlines with guidance from more senior team members
- Effective written and verbal communication skills suitable for a collaborative, product‑focused team environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross‑functional team
- Fluency in English is essential, as this role requires regular client communication and support in English-speaking regions
- Bilingual proficiency (English / French) is considered an asset
