To learn more please visit: https://theuncommonbusiness.co/ Position Responsibilities: If you are an operator who loves building systems, developing people, and creating clarity in fast-moving environments, this role offers the opportunity to shape how a high-growth company plans, executes, and scales. This role includes: Designing and implementing a company-wide project management system across all departments Establishing standardized project management methodologies, meeting cadences, workflows, templates, and reporting structures Building and maintaining project management frameworks within Notion Running weekly 1:1s with department coordinators across Marketing, Sales, Curriculum, Student Success, Build, Data, and future teams Coaching coordinators to improve planning, prioritization, accountability, and execution discipline Building the Project Management function from the ground up, including hiring, onboarding, training, and managing project managers Defining project management career paths, expectations, and operating standards alongside the Director of Operations Managing and developing Project Managers as they are deployed into functional business units Establishing and maintaining company-wide project management cadences, including L10 meetings, quarterly Rocks planning, dependency reviews, and retrospectives Overseeing the tracking, reporting, and execution of quarterly company objectives and departmental Rocks Owning the operational structure of the company's Notion workspace, including governance, templates, taxonomy, documentation standards, and organization Ensuring recurring processes are documented, maintained, and assigned to accountable owners Driving continuous improvement initiatives through postmortems, process refinement, and operational reviews Serving as a cross-functional operational partner and escalation point when departments encounter execution challenges Supporting the Director of Operations by reducing project management bottlenecks and increasing organizational efficiency Qualifications: Proven experience implementing project management systems within high-growth organizations Experience leading project managers, coordinators, or operational teams Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, Shape Up, and related frameworks Demonstrated success creating repeatable systems, processes, and operating rhythms that scale Experience coaching team members from reactive execution to proactive planning Strong knowledge of Notion and experience designing operational systems within modern workplace tools Experience working within remote-first, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills Familiarity with AI tools and modern workplace technology preferred Our Ideal Teammate Is Someone Who: Thinks like an operator and acts like an owner Creates clarity where others see complexity Brings structure without introducing bureaucracy Coaches people effectively while maintaining accountability Balances process discipline with practical business needs Enjoys building systems that continue to deliver results long after implementation Communicates directly, professionally, and with confidence Thrives in high-growth environments where priorities evolve quickly Loves solving operational challenges and improving how teams work together Is committed to continuous learning, growth, and improvement Dream Teammate: Has successfully built a project management function from the ground up Has transformed reactive teams into proactive, highly accountable teams Can confidently explain which project management methodologies work best in different business environments and why Has hired, developed, and retained high-performing project managers Enjoys working directly with teams to drive adoption rather than simply creating processes Is equally comfortable leading strategy discussions and rolling up their sleeves to execute Brings both operational excellence and strong people leadership Schedule Expectations: Twice per year during launch seasons (approximately 10–12 weeks total annually), team members in launch-critical roles are expected to be available from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with additional hours required for preparation, execution, live event support, and post-launch activities. Outside of launch seasons, the workload remains strategic and sustainable, focused on building systems, processes, and infrastructure that improve execution across the business.
