THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a National Senior Director of Operations to lead and optimize operational execution across all regions, ensuring consistent delivery of safety, quality, productivity, and financial performance. This role is responsible for national operations, including the achievement of revenue budget, executed margins, booked margins, total margin, backlog conversion, and P&L alignment to budget. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role plays a critical part in advancing the company’s national growth strategy and ensuring operational excellence across the organization. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!) Provide direct leadership to the National Director of Service Operations, Health & Safety Manager, and Fleet Manager, ensuring alignment, risk mitigation, and performance accountability. Accountable for overall operational performance, including revenue budget, executed solution margin, service margin, blended margin, backlog conversion, and full P&L alignment to budget across all Divisions. Responsible for execution of all national operations, ensuring performance, accountability, and consistency across engineering, project management, and service functions. Own company-wide safety performance, including OSHA compliance, fleet safety, incident prevention, investigation, corrective actions, reporting, and achievement of safety targets. Partner with Regional and Division Operations Managers to drive execution, accountability, and consistency across all locations. Provide performance feedback as needed. Ensure consistent execution of the Road to Success (RTS) cadence across all regions and Divisions, driving measurable continuous improvement. Ensure staffing, manpower planning, certifications, and license compliance align with workload demands across all Divisions. Ensure timely and accurate execution of core operations, including scheduling, inspections, service delivery, billing, open calls, and project closeout. Own service margin performance, ensuring compliance with the Service Contract Renewal Process, including pricing discipline, billing practices, and uplift targets. Support expansion of the in-house Sciens Service Suite (S3) execution model across all regions. Conduct and enforce pre-bid reviews based on designated approval thresholds, ensuring proper risk evaluation, pricing discipline, and margin expectations; verify that Regional and Division Operations Managers approve opportunities in alignment with established local thresholds. Deliver projects within ±2% of budget and ensure change order volume, margin, and conversion meet or exceed established targets through disciplined governance and execution. Ensure accurate and timely completion of project cost reporting and Work in Progress (WIP) analysis, with corrective action as needed. Drive field productivity by optimizing labor utilization, absorption, and overtime within company targets. Ensure effective asset management, including inventory, tools, and fleet utilization. Tech stack: Ensure full implementation of the ERP system and other related approved tech tools to improve efficiency and scalability. Lead operational performance reviews with Regional Operations Managers, reinforcing accountability and addressing underperformance. Ensure consistent field engagement through monthly huddles focused on safety, productivity, and service quality. Drive discipline in the deficiency inspection and sales support process, ensuring deficiency volume, quoting timelines, conversion rates, and margin performance meet established targets. Enforce deficiency quoting standards, including a maximum five-day turnaround with a 48-hour target. Partner with Sales and Finance to support revenue growth, bundled offerings, profitability, and improved cash collection outcomes. Ensure achievement of budgeted CIE and financial targets through operational discipline and adherence to SOV workflow. Support M&A integration, ensuring rapid alignment to operational standards, systems, safety programs, and S3 delivery models. Travel nationally up to 60% to support business objectives, team engagement, and operational alignment. WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience within the fire detection, security, and life safety industry, including multi-region or national responsibility. Ability to drive solutions revenue performance, executed margin improvement, backlog conversion, and full P&L accountability. Strong experience managing budgets, forecasts, and booked-to-executed margin performance. Deep expertise in field operations, project execution, service delivery, and workforce planning. Strong understanding of safety programs, OSHA compliance, and operational risk management. Demonstrated success driving productivity, efficiency, and operational scalability. Experience leading cross-functional teams across a matrixed organization. Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence people at all levels.
