Competition Math Coach - Part-Time, gt.school (Remote) - $37,500/year USD

Remote · USA Full-time New today

You have mastered the challenging problems. Now apply that expertise where it matters most: with talented students who compete, qualify, and succeed. GT School serves families seeking more than strong report cards. We develop gifted learners through authentic challenges: national and international contests, public performance records, and accomplishments that students carry into their future. This position exists because our mathematics curriculum succeeds only when students exit each session more capable, more confident, and fully prepared for competitive testing. This is not a standard tutoring position. You will facilitate live virtual workshops designed to challenge elite students, deliver focused contest preparation for competitions including AMC 8/10/12, AIME, USAMO, IMO, RMO, INMO, UKMT (JMC, IMC, SMC), BMO, AMC (Australian Mathematics Competition), AMT, AMOC, SAMO, PAMO, PMO, Math Kangaroo, and additional national and regional olympiads, and develop scalable resources that elevate standards across GT Anywhere and GT campus locations. If you excel at converting natural ability into documented results and can communicate advanced concepts with precision, this role will suit you well. If you possess a demonstrated history of mathematical excellence — as a competitor, coach, or olympiad medalist — and wish to help shape the next generation of champions, we invite you to apply. What You Will Be Doing

  • Create and conduct 2–4 live virtual domain workshops weekly that develop competition-standard mathematical reasoning
  • Provide 1:1 or small-group coaching for targeted contests through mock examinations, timed exercises, and thorough analysis
  • Identify weaknesses quickly and develop customized growth plans aligned to each student's objectives and competition calendar
  • Monitor student advancement using a structured math development framework and modify teaching methods based on performance data
  • Develop original, challenging problem collections and modular instructional materials that can be deployed by other educators at scale

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Provide general homework assistance or grade-focused tutoring lacking defined, quantifiable outcomes
  • Conduct conventional classroom instruction limited to standard curriculum content
  • Facilitate random problem-solving sessions without structure, assessment mechanisms, or competition preparation pathways
  • Rely on borrowed or low-quality materials that fail to meet competitive mathematics standards

Competition Math Coach Key Responsibilities This role ensures that gifted students reliably produce measurable, competition-level mathematics achievements that GT School can recognize and families can depend on. Basic Requirements

  • Documented elite mathematical accomplishment (e.g., Olympiad medal, AIME qualification, top national ranking, or equivalent verifiable record)
  • Minimum 6 months of teaching, coaching, or mentoring experience with demonstrated results
  • Capability to present advanced mathematics in clear, accessible terms to gifted young students
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mathematics competition structures, content areas, and preparation methods (e.g., AMC, AIME, Olympiads)
  • Effective virtual instruction skills and capacity to maintain student engagement through video platforms
  • Availability for 5–10 hours per week
  • Dependable internet connection and professional video equipment

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Current, ongoing participation as a competitor, coach, or creator of competition-oriented educational content
  • Background developing reusable instructional libraries, problem collections, or curricula for use by other educators
  • Track record of student achievements including qualifications, rankings, medals, or other validated competition results
