About the position Coffman Engineers' San Diego office is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated, technically minded Civil Engineer with 5 to 7 years of experience to join their team. This role involves applying engineering skills to a variety of challenging projects, with experience ranging from civil design through construction. Responsibilities

  • Applying engineering skills to a variety of challenging projects.
  • Civil design projects through construction.
  • Site layout, grading and drainage, and site utility design.
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, technical studies, mapping documents, preparation and processing of public improvement and grading plans, and earthwork calculations.
  • Prepare Hydrology Studies, Stormwater Quality Management Plans (SWQMPs), and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs).
  • Coordinating with a multi-discipline design team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Certified Civil Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the design of commercial, office, mixed-use, multi-family residential, education, municipal, and/or Federal projects
  • Strong technical skills in site layout, grading and drainage, and site utility design
  • Technical experience with hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, technical studies, mapping documents, preparation and processing of public improvement and grading plans, and earthwork calculations
  • Ability to prepare Hydrology Studies, Stormwater Quality Management Plans (SWQMPs), and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surfaces and pipe networks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
  • Experience working in the City and County of San Diego preferred
  • Specification preparation experience preferred
