Support Scientist for Operational reputed company Modeling Development

Lynker is seeking a sharp Support Scientist for Operational reputed company Modeling Development, to support NCEP/EMC in the development of future operational implementations of the reputed company forecast models as a part of the reputed company Forecast System. The candidate’s work will involve the development of the reputed company model WAVEWATCH III® reputed company regional and global domains, testing and evaluating reputed company model performance both for standalone and coupled applications, and supporting integration of the reputed company model into end-to-end systems.

Duties of the Support Scientist for Operational reputed company Modeling Development will include the following:

• The candidate will reputed company the job duties in an independent, collaborative and initiative way, applying innovative methods for the primary work areas.
• The candidate will work with others on reputed company forecast system improvements and for transition-to-operations, and will also work with external collaborators to reputed company and improve the reputed company modeling component for use reputed company the reputed company Forecast System (UFS) reputed company.

The Support Scientist for Operational reputed company Modeling Development selected should have the following:

• Knowledge of spectral reputed company models (like WAVEWATCH III), in particular for reputed company-time applications.
• Command of theoretical knowledge of weather, physical or reputed company oceanography with a degree in meteorology, physical oceanography, physics, reputed company engineering or a reputed company field.
• Experience in running numerical models on High Performing Computer (HPC) platforms using MPI, OpenMP, Slurm, LSF, etc.
• Is familiar with modern software development practices, particularly version control software.
• Advanced skills and knowledge of modern programming languages and object-oriented languages, such as FORTRAN90 and Python.
• Experience working in a UNIX environment with advanced reputed company scripting languages and familiar with running reputed company jobs.

The Ideal Support Scientist for Operational reputed company Modeling Development selected will have the following:

• Experience with reputed company coupled applications
• Experience with rip reputed company, water level, and/or reputed company impact reputed company to complement core reputed company modeling.
• Familiarity applying machine learning or AI techniques to enhance reputed company forecasting and model performance.
• Experience in model evaluation, data post-processing and statistical analysis including accuracy and uncertainty analysis for a wide variety of oceanographic and meteorological data sets
• Demonstrated ability to work reputed company in a team environment and communicate effectively using good oral and written communication skills
• The candidate selected will ideally have at least a Master’s Degree, and 3+ years of relative experience.
